Lentek pet paw May 18, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
The Lentek Pet Paw, part of the Pet Chime system by Lentek, is a great idea that is badly engineered. Years ago, our dog was successfully trained to use the Pet Paw, despite the fact the only way to get it to work is to step on one little part of it, and even that often doesn't work. The Pet Paw often becomes dysfunctional when wet or frozen, because water can seep in around the edges of the part the dog has to step on. It must be kept in a plastic freezer bag to remain workable. The battery is hard to change because it is wedged in so tightly, and whenever there is a problem (which is often) the first thing we have to check is that battery. We have had to replace the Pet Paw many times. This product needs to be redesigned to be less cute and more functional. Stepping on ANY part of it should easily trigger the remote chime, and the top surface should be in a single piece that doesn't have cracks that water can enter.
Save your money January 8, 2008 Save your money and hang a bell low enough on your door for your dog to reach. Cheaper. More reliable. Never needs batteries. Won't break. More pleasing sound.
Sucess in 2 days... December 26, 2007 I bought this for my sister and her new puppy... mostly to train my sister, the puppy was already trained to go to the kitchen door -- but would never bark or make any kind of sound, so if my sister wasn't paying attention, the poor puppy would burst over the kitchen floor by the door.
The puppy immediately was intrigued by the door bell and would press on it, but the WOOF WOOF sound it made attracted the puppy to the reciever and it would loose focus on the need to go outside... so my sister put the reciever right near the door bell's paw to help the pup stay focused, which worked.
A twist tho -- my sister just informed me that the puppy has learned to bark WOOF WOOF when she needs to go outside!!! The doorbell taught the puppy to bark when she needs to go out! The pup that was completely silent, now goes to the kitchen door, sniffs at the door bell's paw, then imitates it's WOOF WOOF...
and yes, now my sister is perfectly trained to respond to the barking!
=)
Stopped working July 26, 2007 It worked good for about a week then the chime started going off on its own once in a while. It then became more frequently until we finally pulled the battery and said forget it. Should have returned it but we didn't.
OK April 4, 2007 The item works but the quality is very low. It is made out of cheap plastic and I found paper stuck inside. The bell rings randomly as others have noted. The random ringing happens if the button gets stuck down. It doesn't always pop back up after it is pushed. It isn't even water resistent for those thinking of putting it outside.
